Dr. Dosen has many reasons to celebrate her retirement from the education field. Having worked in different schools in administration positions over the course of many years, she has a career marked with accomplishments. She first started her career working in speech, but then moved into early childhood education and then special education. Containing knowledge and experience from inside and outside of the classroom, Dr. Dosen planted herself in administration roles where she could continue developing and helping students in a different way.
Always interested in education, Dr. Dosen first started at St. Catherine’s in St. Paul, MN. From there she obtained a Bachelor of Science and then a master’s degree in speech pathology. She rounded out her formal education with a Ph.D. in educational administration and policies from the University of Minnesota. It has been her mission throughout her career to improve the lives of others, especially those with special needs.
One of the greatest challenges of Dr. Dosen’s life has been her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. Diagnosed with this disease as a young woman, it did not dampen her drive to become a teacher in special education. While the disease poses its daily challenges, she is adamant in not letting it hold her back from achieving her dreams. Looking toward the future, she endeavors to mentor people with multiple sclerosis. Additionally, she is an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association, recognized for her contribution to family, career and community.
