Each day as a special educator of Baltimore County Public Schools, Andrea R. Levine drives from site to site to give special needs children individual educational attention, with each session being an hour long per child. After these sessions, she compiles each child’s progress, using this data to update reports for the parents and her office. To keep her skills sharp, she attends meetings and events while providing individual education for special needs children from ages 3 to 5. She also sits on the IEP team and tests children at the assessment center for the district.

Drawing on more than 35 years of expertise in education management, Dr. Hall Mitchell is well-known as a parent and public education advocate. Having dedicated so much of her life to education and education management, she is an exemplary figure in both teaching and reform. Her latest venture has been creating her nonprofit organization, which aims to help children with special needs get through issues in schools and with school districts. In this role, she accompanies families to court and acts as a mediator.

Dr. Hall Mitchell grew up with two parents who were educators. Their work in the field placed a great emphasis on the value of education and ultimately inspired her to set down a similar path. Dr. Hall Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in special education with a concentration in mental retardation. She continued to earn a master’s degree in special education and then an Ed.D. in educational leadership. She taught special education for 22 years. She has also worked as a principal. She has been recognized with such awards as the Principal of the Year and the Outstanding Service Award for Bethlehem Baptist Church. She is involved with the Dynamic Women of Courage and Vision and Who’s Who Among American teachers. Continue reading →

Dr. Dosen has many reasons to celebrate her retirement from the education field. Having worked in different schools in administration positions over the course of many years, she has a career marked with accomplishments. She first started her career working in speech, but then moved into early childhood education and then special education. Containing knowledge and experience from inside and outside of the classroom, Dr. Dosen planted herself in administration roles where she could continue developing and helping students in a different way.

Always interested in education, Dr. Dosen first started at St. Catherine’s in St. Paul, MN. From there she obtained a Bachelor of Science and then a master’s degree in speech pathology. She rounded out her formal education with a Ph.D. in educational administration and policies from the University of Minnesota.
