Dr. Hayes-Scott has been in the publishing industry for more than 25 years with her flagship company Robbie Dean Press L.L.C., and she launched her second publishing company, MarketingNewAuthors.com (MANA), 14 years. Going back further than her publishing ventures is her career as a college professor of English composition and literature, which she started more than 40 years ago. Her publishing companies are full-service and traditionally based. Robbie Dean Press L.L.C. focuses on producing college textbooks meanwhile MANA is a self-publishing, marketing and distribution company.

Twenty-five years ago, Dr. Hayes-Scott was looking for textbooks that would work better for her deaf students. While she was unable to find anything, she decided to launch her own company and create the materials she found the textbook industry to be lacking. Since then, she has written four books and edited three others. She is currently working on the 16^th edition of her English handbook. She is involved in the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the National Council of Teachers of English, and Educational Technology and the Organization of Michigan Conference on College Composition and Communication. Throughout her career, she has received many designations, but her most treasured honor is having a classroom named in her honor.
