Coral Gables, FL, February 18, 2016, Terri Meinking, President of Global Health Association of Miami, Inc. (GHAM), has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in clinical research.

As the president of GHAM for the past 12 years, Dr. Meinking has led the way in clinical research for various medical conditions, from internal and external factors. With a specialization in parasitology and infestations, her team studies head lice, scabies, bed bugs and thrips. This research paves the way for clinical trials and aspires to be approved by the FDA. Dr. Meinking applies more than four decades of experience to this position, in which she has conducted research on a whole spectrum of medical and scientific topics. Her research centers on the U.S., the Caribbean and the Latin American regions. She has trained numerous Ph.D. candidates and graduate students in her areas of expertise.

Dr. Meinking got her start in medicine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Dance History and Dance from Miami University in 1974. She continued her studies at Harvard Medical School and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Rochville. In addition, she is certified by the Date County Public Health Department to conduct HIV testing and counseling. When serving on the faculty of the University of Miami, Dr. Meinking conducted fieldwork in remote areas of South America and trained Green Beret doctors for their services in Vietnam. She has served as a research associate professor, a senior research associate and a research associate at the University of Miami School of Medicine, department of dermatology and cutaneous surgery, and in the department of nephrology. She has also been a research assistant for the department of radiology at Harvard Medical School.

In addition to all of her research and faculty positions, Dr. Meinking has written numerous book chapters, hundreds of juried and refereed journal articles, press stories, videotapes, radio broadcasts, publications, abstracts and posters since 1988. Throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s she received grants relating to her research. Dr. Meinking sends in medical reviews to The Journal of Infectious Disease, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, the New England Journal of Medicine, Archives of Dermatology, Journal of Parasitology, Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the International Journal of Dermatology, Medical and Veterinary Entomology, Journal of Pediatric Dermatology and the Journal of Entomology.
