Title: President of the Board
Company: The Dear Foundation
Location: Affoltern am Albis, Switzerland
Affoltern am Ablis, Switzerland, November 18, 2015, Sonja Dinner, President of the Board for The Dear Foundation, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide for dedication, achievements and leadership in fundraising.
After a successful career as a chief executive officer and primary shareholder of the information technology company, Heyde, AG, Ms. Dinner felt compelled to give back. She began her philanthropy work in 2000 by creating awareness and raising funds for causes that meant a great deal to her. When she was offered a role with The Dear Foundation, she took the opportunity to transcend religious and ethnic divides and make a true impact. “The grim face of poverty is the same worldwide, it’s not selective to just one group, race or religious affiliations,” Ms. Dinner says.
Among Ms. Dinner’s most notable projects is “Brave Women Worldwide Dealing with Breast Cancer,” a prevention film about breast cancer targets at women and men worldwide who do not have access to health services. The film’s two goals are to remove all cultural taboos surrounding breast cancer and to educate these populations on self-examinations. Currently, Ms. Dinner is working to bring this film to women in Hondoruas, Guatemala, South Africa, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Thailand, Palestine, Israel and more. Domestically, she has spearheaded programs to help support severely disabled children and provide health services and education to the poorest children.
Ms. Dinner’s tremendous efforts to help those in developing countries have not gone unnoticed. In 2013, she was the recipient of the Teddy Kollek Award for longstanding work in Jerusalem for a peaceful coexistence between Jews, Muslims and Christians. In 2014, she was named Top Female Professional for her philanthropic work. And, finally, this year, she earned a humanitarian award from Worldwide Branding.
