With a career spanning more than four decades, the Honorable Suzanne Nusbaum presently leads Impartia, her neutral dispute resolution services organization. She enjoys helping people resolve their disputes. She works with litigators and clients to design the best dispute resolution procedure for their case. As a mediator, she assists them to make the best possible decision about how to resolve it. As an arbitrator, she is easily taught, and is masterful at organizing and evaluating information and making timely, fair and impartial decisions. She works nationally and internationally to arbitrate, mediate, neutrally evaluate and conduct settlement conferences. She handles cases in the areas of copyright, intellectual property, employment law, health care law and commercial disputes.

To begin her career, she graduated from Smith College cum laude. She continued to earn a JD from Boston University. In addition, she obtained an LLM in intellectual property law from Santa Clara University School of Law. Throughout her career, she has been reconfirmed for judgeships on multiple occasions. She is involved with the Copyright Society and the Friends of Jessup International Moot Court. She serves as an ADR panelist for the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Dispute Resolution Centre, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ADR Program, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Dispute Resolution Forum, and Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services (AAMS). She annually judges the Chinese National Rounds of the Jessup International Moot Court and was voted the Best Judge in 2011. She also judges the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In addition, she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the former chair of its Northern California Chapter.
