With a passion for teaching, Dr. Blevins felt it was a natural fit for her to enter the educational field. She started her career as an elementary school teacher and eventually moved into an administration curriculum coordinator position for a middle school. In 1993, she received a Ph.D. from Auburn University. At the moment, she works as a faculty member at Roanoke Chowan Community College. Utilizing her natural ability to connect with her students, she teaches developmental classes in the English department, which is the biggest challenge she has faced thus far. These classes assist students who are not ready to read and write at the collegiate level.
