Carriere, MS, September 28, 2016, Deborah Callender, Physical Scientist of Naval Oceanographic Office, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in scientific project management.
Ms. Callender celebrates nearly a decade with the Naval Oceanographic Office, where she provides services in management, leadership, research and analysis. She manages such studies as the marine seafloor geology profile and fleet projects for the U.S. Navy. Additionally, her skills as a GIS project manager are used when acquiring data and integrating seafloor geology, physical oceanography, meteorology, bathymetry, ice, shipping and fisheries into navigation and safety specifications for clients. Furthermore, Ms. Callender is the project manager for the Global Marine Environmental Library, which integrates academia and published documents into databases interconnected to GIS data. Her work is not done yet, as she is an AUV Survey GIS analyst of the Remote Environmental Measuring Unites (REMUS), which analyzes side-scan sonar. She provides her expertise for the ISS-60 Watchstander for oceanographic surveys, which include processing of multi-beam bathymetry. Continue reading
