JACKSONVILLE, FL, January 18, 2017, Beven Livingston, Associate Professor of the University of North Florida, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in higher education.
Dr. Livingston brings eight years of experience to her role as an associate professor of the University of North Florida. Throughout her career, she has set herself apart as an expert in the areas of neuroscience, biomechanics and kinesiology, gross anatomy, rehabilitation and motor control of the upper extremity. As a woman in a scientific discipline, Dr. Livingston has always had to work twice as hard to prove herself. She was also challenged by earning a Ph.D. while working to support her three children.
Dr. Livingston received a bachelor’s degree in 1986, and she returned to school after 15 years to earn a Ph.D. She maintains affiliation with the American Physical Therapy Association, the National Athletic Trainers Association, the American College of Sports Medicine and the Society for Neuroscience. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she has beem presented with an ARCS award, and she was named to the Outstanding Young Women of America and the Transylvania University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. In years to come, Dr. Livingston would like to serve as an advocate in health care. She would also like to become a full professor, bringing back certain teachings that have taken a back seat but need to be brought back into health care.
