Apache Junction, AZ, September 7, 2016, Maria-Elena Ochoa, Chief of Medical Operations for MEO & Associates, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide for dedication, achievements and leadership in mental health care.

With more than 37 years of combined professional experience, Ms. Ochoa has spent the last eight working in an operational role in the nonprofit behavioral health services sector. As chief of medical operations, she facilitates collaboration among state agencies and community-based organizations while also coordinating and staffing the governor’s commission to prevent violence against women. Additionally, Ms. Ochoa integrates primary care into behavioral mental health substance abuse services.

Ms. Ochoa is considered an expert in conflict resolution and mediation as it pertains to mental health. She is also regarded for her work in systems development, strategic planning and contract negotiation. To support her career, she holds an MBA with an emphasis in health care administration from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University. She is incredibly involved in her professional community. Currently, Ms. Ochoa serves as the executive vice president of the Phoenix chapter for the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.

“I became involved in my professional because I wanted to make a difference for underserved populations on a statewide level,” says Ms. Ochoa, who feels she has been successful because of her passion, work ethic, resilience, innovation and her ability to establish strong and authentic relationships. As she looks to the future, Ms. Ochoa plans to take on a CEO or executive director position within the mental health care field.
