Ferrum, VA, United States, July 26, 2016, Delia Heck, Associate Professor of Environmental Science at Ferrum College, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in environmental education.
Dr. Heck was always guided by her interests in science and research, and was motivated to teach young adults who are interested in the topics and pursuing careers in them. Not only does she work to provide the best education to her students, but also to grow as a professor and in her research. She focuses on research that concerns the global climate, with intentions for planning and finding solutions for problems currently afflicting the environment. In addition to being an associate professor, she is the quality enhancement program director and the environmental planning and development program coordinator.
In order to pursue her dreams of instructing about the environment Dr. Heck earned a Bachelor of Science in regional development from the University of Arizona. She continued at the University of Washington to earn a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in 1996. In 1998, Dr. Heck joined the staff at Ferrum College. She has also conducted research with Smith Mountain Lake Water Quality Monitoring. She maintains membership with the Association of Geographers.
