Williamsburg, VA, July 22, 2016, Marilyn Shafer-Asprey, Author, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in writing.
Prior to becoming a writer, Ms. Shafer-Asprey was a gifted student’s teacher, who worked at Dr. Albert Schweitzer Elementary School in California. In addition, she taught for more than 20 years at schools in Virginia. As a published author, her latest book ‘Power Steering,’ was released in February 2016. A book exploring the mind, body and spirit in the decision-making process, Ms. Shafer-Asprey entertains her audience in a poetic-narrative. She uses anecdotal vignettes to show how her own life has been impacted with this kind of thinking. The book is published under her nom de plume, M.J. Scott.
Writing has been a part of Ms. Shafer-Asprey’s career from the earliest of days. She earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Manchester University. Afterward, she attended Norfolk State University to receive a Master of Arts in mass communications, as well as earned an ABD in education administration from California Coast University. In addition to writing, she co-founded The Writer’s Council, an organization that aims to inspire young writers and help them become published authors. Ms. Shafer-Asprey also runs a photography business and is heavily involved in philanthropic work.
