Despite retiring early, Ms. Howland continues to educate as a private tutor in mathematics and economics. Specializing in linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, statistics, economics and econometrics, university-aged students benefit from her services. Prior to retiring, she was an economist and statistician with the Canada Revenue Agency and an econometrician for Informetrica Ltd. She has privately tutored, along with a partner who specializes in physics, for nearly five years. Her goals as a tutor as to see her students succeed, and help more students reach their educational goals.

Ms. Howland comes from a family of mathematicians, her mother earned a degree in the industry at Harvard University and her father taught mathematics as a professor. With the subject coursing through her veins, she has the abilities to analyze, apply logic and communicate ideas. Ms. Howland earned a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Ottawa, and has also taken Ph.D. coursework. In addition to tutoring, she volunteers with the National Gallery of Canada and the Ottawa Chamberfest.
