In a career spanning more than three decades, Ms. Baker has become a notable figure in risk management due to her experience as a commercial broker and agency owner. As the president of her firm, she manages all of the daily operations, supports her employees and concentrates extensively on building relationships. Building relationships is a key component in her business, and Ms. Baker attributes her communication skills to her success.
Consulting on risk management and insurance has been a staple in Ms. Baker’s career for a long time. However, when she attended the Université Paris-Sorbonne, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian Literature. This degree aids in her ability to build key relationships. With a plan to extend her services into more Canadian territory and provide more packaged services to clients, her ability to speak multiple languages is integral.
In addition to her consulting services, Ms. Baker is available as an outside chief risk officer, CRO, for independent projects. In this position, she supplies various risk management services such as in enterprise design, strategic, data risk, mapping and objective insurance. She has a fellowship in risk management from Simon Fraser University and is a licensed investment advisor from the Securities Commission. She maintains strong ties to the industry with affiliation to the BC Society of Fellows and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. She participates in the mentor program with the University of British Columbia and is a volunteer teacher at Barnard College.
