Laporte, CO, May 25, 2016, Margaret Shaklee, Chair Elect of Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in the nonprofit environment field.
Ms. Shaklee worked for the social and health services industry for 20 years before retiring. Not long after she retired and moved from Washington to Colorado, she joined the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers. She has been with the organization for more than a decade and has held various positions such as treasurer. Now currently the chair elect, Ms. Shaklee can provide even more assistance for the Canyon Lakes Ranger District in managing and protecting the wilderness and backcountry areas within its jurisdiction. This position is a great fit for Ms. Shaklee, as she possesses a great strength in communicating with others, especially listening and understanding. Coupled with her detail-oriented and organized nature, she is always ready to help others make decisions or offer an instrumental opinion.
Throughout the years, Ms. Shaklee has accumulated praise for her work in both her previous profession and current one. She has been recognized as an outstanding employee from both the Territorial Savings & Loan and The Department of Health and Social Services. The Poudre Wilderness Volunteers organization has also recognized her as an outstanding member. She holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and a master’s degree in public administration from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. A large part of what contributes to Ms. Shaklee’s success is her optimism. When a large forest fire in 2012 consumed much of her 20-acre property, she remained hopeful of regaining the losses her family had endured. Members from her organization helped her family rebuild their property, by moving many of those downed trees to terrace the land and distributing wood chips and grass seed to prevent erosion
