For the past 15 years, Ms. Rust has been the head of Proparms, a company founded by her late husband in 1973, which is a leader in special effects weaponry and specialized properties company. Bringing her experience as a special effects and weaponry supplier to the Canadian theatre and film industries, Ms. Rust has led the company since her spouses’ passing in 2001. She has continued his legacy of creating specialized ammunition, projectiles and various EOD/IEDD tools. Some of the innovations the company has implemented throughout the years is long distance three meter (10 ft.) standoff by laser precision aiming, 98 percent proven recoilless disrupters, including lightweight titanium models, Wizard Recoilless which can successfully decap a pipe bomb with watershot only, One Shot Disposable disrupter, RAM® and RIB disrupter tools, and customized ammunition and projectiles.

Ms. Rust bases her success in marketing and expanding the business from her inspiration of her husband. She recalls the memory of learning that her husband is responsible for saving thousands of lives with his inventions such as the Neutrex Waterjet disrupter at his memorial service. This is one of the highlights of her career and she remains inspired by it and her husband’s legacy. Ms. Rust holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Concordia University.

In addition to developing Proparms on the worldwide market, she supports many charities and organizations. She supports the World Vision, the American Breast Cancer Society, Lamoille County Food Cupboard, Waterbury Disaster Relief Fund, the Vermont Professional Firefighters Association and Stow Democrats. She is a trained opera singer a member of the Mountain Choraleers. She was recognized with a 25-year silver pin from the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators. For the business, she is involved with several organizations such as the Chambre de Commerce, IBTI, EDC, IQ, RCMP, ATF and the U.S. State Department.
