Washington, CA, April 7, 2016, Diane E. Watson, Retired Representative of the United States Congress, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in government work.
Dr. Watson has served the public for more than 36 years. She spent 25 years as an elected official and served 20 years in the California State Senate. Afterwards, President Bill Clinton appointed her as an ambassador. Dr. Watson retired from her political career on December 31, 2010. She represented the constituents in the 33rd congressional district. She focused on implementing policies and procedures on health care, social services, education and housing.
In 1956, Dr. Watson entered the working world as a teacher. Not long after, she felt she could make a difference in government, and switched careers to pursue a political career tract. At the Los Angeles Community College District, she earned an Associate of Arts. She continued at California State University to receive a Bachelor of Arts in education and a Master of Science. Additionally, she received a Ph.D. in educational administration from Claremont Graduate University.
