As early as middle school, Dr. Powell knew she wanted to pursue a career in the field of medicine. With now more than 10 years of experience working as a medical doctor specializing in ear, nose and throat care, she continues to achieve her dream. As the preeminent pediatric doctor in general otolaryngology, Dr. Powell also excels at adenoidectomies, tympanostomies, frenulectomies, tonsillectomies and other correlating surgeries. She treats headaches, hearing loss, sinus infections, head and neck cancer, as well as sleep apnea, snoring and vertigo. 

Dr. Powell earned an MD at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed an internship in the department of surgery at the University of Florida. In addition to her internship, she attended the University of Florida for residency training in head and neck surgery with the department of otolaryngology. Dr. Powell has received specialized training certifications in thyroid ultrasound image guidance, Acclarent balloon sinuplasty, Acclarent Relieva stratus device and restoring medical pillar implants. She plans to continue specializing in the surgical aspect in the coming years.

As a testament to the quality services she has provided, Dr. Powell has received several awards for her work. She has received the On-Time Doctor award, the Patients’ Choice award and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition award all from Vitals. Out of her graduating class at the University of Iowa, Dr. Powell was in the top 10 percent. In addition, she retains affiliation with several organizations that are beneficial to her profession. She is associated with the Head and Neck Society of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, South Dakota State Medical Association, the Iowa Medical Society, Trilogic Society, Woodbury Medical Society, American Medical Association and the Physicians Hospitals of America.
