New York, NY, February 9, 2016, Phyllis J. Friedlander Feder, Vice President of the Board with Kaufman Music Center, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in education and facilities management.

According to Phyllis J. Friedlander Feder, there is no position that suites her more than her current one, which allows her to have a positive role in the lives of children. For the past six years, she has served as the vice president of the board with Kaufman Music Center. Located in the heart of New York City, the large facility is comprised of four divisions, including a music hall, theater wing, music school and the Lucy Moses School. The center is best known for providing music, dance and theater instruction to students of all ages. Although Ms. Feder is mostly responsible for raising funds and handling the fiduciary responsibilities, she greatly enjoys listening to students play and sing, and watching them progress.

A former French teacher, Ms. Feder holds a master’s degree in French, which she received from Hunter College in 1978. Since joining Kaufman Music Center, she has been credited with bringing the organization to a point where it is flourishing. The center previously had a very narrow focus, but she was able to help the center expand and bring new people in, which fostered a feeling of expansion and development. Ms. Feder takes great pride in how much the music center has grown over the past decade, and has very ambitious plans for the future. She would like to expand music education and performance at the center, deepen the appreciation of music, broaden the center’s visibility and recognition, and build a stronger financial foundation.
