Looking back, Ms. James attributes her success to treating clients like friends and putting their needs first, while staying current and on top of changes in the law. She became involved in her profession after spending a college semester in Washington, DC. Ms. James realized that a law degree was a stepping stone to a world of careers and opportunities. A clerkship exposed her to the benefits of transactional work.

Ms. James received a JD from the University of Houston Bates College of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude in 1982. She maintains affiliation with the Texas State Bar Association, the Texas Association of Bank Counsel, and Galveston County Young Lawyers. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she has been honored as an Outstanding Young Lawyer of Galveston County by the American Bar Association from 1988-1989, and she earned a Mayor’s Public Service Award from the Galveston Neighborhood Partnership Steering Committee.
