Since 1994, once she had obtained a doctorate in medical science, Lotta Jansson has been working to improve health care delivery at various levels. Previously in academia for five years at Sweden’s Lund University, Dr. Jansson went on to become an associate director with AstraZeneca and remained with the company for 13 years. During that time, she focused on gastroenterology, inflammation and neuroscience and gained experience in all stages of drug discovery. Having overseen the work of up to 16 staff members in a department and managed small and large-scale projects, she is uniquely qualified to serve as research director for Apitope International, which develops treatments for allergies and diseases affecting the autoimmune system.
A skillful and versatile communicator, Dr. Jansson has a rare combination of technical expertise and managerial acumen that allows her to focus on both business and product development. In addition to overseeing the work of research biologists and scientists, she also leads quality control efforts and meets with company executives to ensure organizational goals are met. Throughout her career she has contributed to more than 40 patents and scientific peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Jansson earned a Ph.D. with a focus on immunology and is a member of the Society for Neuroscience. She has taken three drug candidates from research through the clinical development process and hopes to continue helping innovative, life-saving medicines be brought to market in the years to come.
