Due to her own personal experiences with epilepsy, having been diagnosed in 1940, Ms. Schumacher felt compelled to write and publish five books on neurological disorders, including epilepsy, bipolar disorder, cerebral palsy, and Friedreich’s ataxia. Over the course of more than five decades, she has honed her skills in writing, as well as education regarding neurological disorders. In addition to her writing career, she sells beauty products through Mary Kay. A member of numerous epilepsy foundations, as well as the American Medical Writers Association, Ms. Schumacher excels in her field due to a combination of her prior industry experiences and her educational background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in education from Texas Woman’s University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Connecticut State University, and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix. She is currently attending the University of the Rockies to obtain a Ph.D. in psychology. Throughout her career, she has presented 24 medical papers in Europe and China, as well as lectured students in the Ukraine and at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. In the coming years, Ms. Schumacher intends to continue writing in the medical field.
