Murfreesboro, NC, September 24, 2015, Jeanne Blevins, Faculty Member at Roanoke Chowan Community College, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide, for dedication, achievement and leadership in education.
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Blevins felt it was a natural fit for her to enter the educational field. She started her career as an elementary school teacher and eventually moved into an administration curriculum coordinator position for a middle school. In 1993, she received a Ph.D. from Auburn University. At the moment, she works as a faculty member at Roanoke Chowan Community College. Utilizing her natural ability to connect with her students, she teaches developmental classes in the English department, which is the biggest challenge she has faced thus far. These classes assist students who are not ready to read and write at the collegiate level.
Throughout her notable career, Dr. Blevins has affiliated herself with many organizations, including Continental Who’s Who and Stanford Who’s Who. A hard-working and dedicated professional, she has been honored as an American educator through Cambridge Who’s Who. During her spare time, she also enjoys giving back to the community through the Philanthropy Educational Organization, as well as gardening.
If there were one aspect of the field that Dr. Blevins would like to change, it would be the ability to provide all levels of students with the materials they need to learn. Looking ahead, she intends to continue helping students succeed at the college level. She has the unique capability to stimulate a thirst for learning in her students.
