Kristin Pickett, Assistant Professor / Department Chair at Waldorf College, has been recognized by Elite Women Worldwide for dedication, achievement and leadership in criminal justice.

Since she was a young child, Ms. Pickett knew she wanted to be a teacher or a lawyer, therefore being a criminal justice professor was the best professional career path for her. She was fortunate enough to turn an adjunct position into a full-time job, within months of graduating, and has loved working in higher education since. Ms. Pickett has taught for ten years and was recently named the department chair of criminal justice at just 32 years of age.

Her professional goals are to help engage her students to find their passion and to give them the education needed to be successful in the field. Ms. Pickett enjoys teaching Introduction to Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice and Juvenile Delinquency the most out of the classes she teaches on campus. Aside from teaching Criminal Justice residentially, she also teaches Political Science, as well as Criminal Justice and Sociology online.

Aside from teaching, Ms. Pickett is interested in the areas of criminology, juvenile justice & delinquency, child advocacy and mental health issues within the criminal justice system. She has been working to create new courses to educate students further in these areas.

Ms. Pickett looks forward to many more years of teaching. She would also like to publish an introductory criminology textbook and become more involved in her professional organization. She hopes to be an inspiration to women everywhere as not as many women are professors, especially in the criminal justice field.
